How to Measure Outdoor Custom Cushions for Replacement

If you are interested in measuring out outdoor custom cushions for replacement, there is a specific set of measurements that you should use with any custom cushion manufacturer. Making sure that you purchase the correct patio cushions in the ideal sizes is important and here are some of the steps to measuring your cushions on each chair to get the optimal results.

Measuring the seat: When measuring the seat you should start first with the overall length of the cushions seat followed by the weights and then the thickness that you want. Generally this thickness of any type of patio cushion should not meet the back of the chair if there is a space but you will ideally want at least an inch or so between the back of the chair and the opening area.

For measuring the back: When you measure the back of the chair if you want to have a hanging cushion, you should measure the length and make sure to leave at least an inch to two inches at the base for a  separation between the back cushion and the seat cushion.

For measuring longer style chairs: Start with the length of the seat area for a larger chair such as a lounge. This will serve as the first measurement followed by the length of the overall backrest and the weight of the chair itself. Usually a seam can be created within one cushion to serve as a main item for a large lounge.

Deep seat lounge chairs: Lounge chairs with a deeper seat or a lower configuration may also require an additional set of measurements to handle the overall width of the back and the sickness of the back of the chair. If the width of the back is wider for the specific chair this can also change the requirements for measurements considerably.

Be sure to follow some of these instructions when you are measuring outdoor custom cushions for requesting a manufacturing quote.
